Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) is the collective name for the two (2) viruses: human herpesvirus 6A (HHV-6A) and human herpesvirus 6B (HHV-6B). Medical conditions such as mononucleosis, pneumonitis, roseola and a high fever are caused by human herpesvirus 6 infection. Other medical conditions associated with human herpesvirus 6 are multiple sclerosis, Sjogren syndrome, encephalitis, infertility in women, status epilepticus, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, sarcoidosis, meningitis, epilepsy, myocarditis, kidney failure, chronic fatigue syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, Guillain-Barre syndrome, liver dysfunction and lymphoma.
